top10 Top 10 Best Mothers Day Wine

How do you go about making a top 10 best list of wines? It is no easy task, as I can attest to, from all the tasting and researching that I did, so I decided the best way to do our top 10 wines for Mother’s Day was to ask YOU, and we asked and you responded, and for that Road Trips for Wine says “Thank You”!

We got so many great wines, so I had to be choosy and pick the ones that I thought most reflected “Mom”. Enjoy!

1. Les Bourgeois Pink Fox. This “foxy sweet” blush wine is unlike an ordinary blush made with the American Catawba grape giving it a bold fruit flavor and a pleasantly sweet finish. Perfect for brunch or an afternoon on the patio!

2. Francis Ford Coppola Diamond Wines includes 14 varietals (12 single-varietals, and 2 flagship proprietary blends) each one with a different jewel-colored label. Each wine varietal displays all the characteristics of a serious wine, with immediate drinkability and widespread accessibility. Diamond wines are classically California in taste with depth, character and complexity.

3. Mommy’s Time Out Mommy’s Time Out Wine is a great gift for pampering your mother on Mother’s Day. At a price point of $8-$12, it is affordable and delicious. There are two types made at a small vineyard in Italy: Pinot Grigio and Rosso Primitivo, both are fresh and fruity with a well balanced acidity.

4. Nova Scotias Gaspereau Vineyards has a fabulous Rose that is perfect as a patio sipper for Mom before dinner or, because of the wines nice balance, could pair nicely with some Atlantic salmon for a relaxed Mothers Day dinner. The Gaspereau Rose was one of our summer wine picks from our Wine Spectator award winning wine list at DesBarres Manor Inn.

5. Del Rio Vineyards 2008 Rose Jolee semi-sparkling Muscat is delightfully pink, with a fragrance of honeysuckle and roses. A delicately sweet wine and the perfect partner for summertime fun! Aromas leap out of the glass in an explosion of peach and tangerine. The flavors of citrus balance well with the aromas and, a slight spritz completes this fun wine.

6. Divas Uncorked Chardonnay, rated 86 points by Wine Enthusiast, this unoaked chardonnay is made by the famous group Divas Uncorked who were chronicled in Oprah Magazine. Bottled “uncorked” – with an au courant screwcap, it is bright and zesty. A great wine for your Diva mother.

7. Diva from Pillsbury Wine is an amazing, robust wine that fulfills the promise of its name. This plumy, luscious wine was made from a single-vineyard vines Pillsbury Wine planted in a high altitude mountain valley in Cochise County, Arizona in the year 2000.

8. ANNIKA Vineyards, from Hall of Fame golfer Annika Sorenstam, has produced a Syrah which continues with chocolate and coffee flavors from the barrel melting roundly on the tongue. The blending of 25% Cabernet Sauvignon lends structure in the mid-palate, and unfolds cassis and clove aromas to complement the Syrah’s lush character.

9. Four Springs Winery’s Fat Cat – a semi-sweet concord wine that’s social and makes a sensational sangria, perfect for Mother’s Day brunch.

10. Pommery POP Earth NV Champagne is an eco-friendly outstanding Champagne is a Brut perfect for the conscious, casual and celebrated sipper, POP Earth can change the way we toast life, and perhaps even the way we live it.
